FAQ
  1. Why isn’t there any butter in Guru Butter Chicken Sauce and Veggie Makhni Sauce?
In traditional Indian cuisine, whipping cream and butter are often used to enhance the flavour and texture of many sauces. With Guru’s new authentic Indian sauces, you can control the amount of calories and sodium in each dish. These unique sauces are delicious when made with yogurt, low fat cream, milk and soya milk. Now you can enjoy traditional Indian sauces that are low in fat and have reduced sodium for a healthier diet.

  2. Why does Guru suggest adding fresh coriander stems to his sauces while cooking?
When you add coriander stems to Guru’s sauces while cooking, the flavourful juice from the stems are released into the sauce and give it a unique flavour.

  3. I like the ease of buying pre-made Korma sauce but find the flavour to be flat.  How can I make a better tasting Korma sauce that’s simple and quick but bursting with flavour?
It’s fast and easy to prepare fresh Indian sauces like Korma, Karai, Vandaloo, Madras and Tikka Masala using Guru Curry Sauce as a base.  For example, one cup of Guru Curry Sauce mixed with ½ cup of plain yogurt cooked for 5 minutes will produce a fresh Korma Curry Sauce with amazing flavour and aroma. This Korma Sauce will taste exceedingly better than any pre-made Korma Sauce from a jar.

  4. How much salt should I add when cooking with Guru Sauces?
Typically you should add 1 tsp of salt for every 1 pound of meat or vegetables you add to the sauce.1

  5. How long will a jar of Guru Sauce last once opened?
Guru uses only the freshest of ingredients and spices in his recipes and there are no preservatives.  Store Guru Sauces in the refrigerator once they have been opened and use within 7 days.

  6. What kind of vegetable oil is used in Guru’s Sauce?
Guru uses canola oil in all his sauces.

  7. Why does Guru blend and grind his own spices?
The spices in Guru Sauces are ground the old fashioned way with a stone grinder. This slow, time-honoured practice preserves 99% of the flavours and aromas that make Guru Sauces so delicious. Other brands of Indian sauces obtain their spices from large factories that use high speed grinders. These grinders produce heat while processing and cause the spices to lose 50% of their flavour and aroma. Guru Sauces have superior flavour and will truly give a fresh, authentic Indian taste to your meal.
