FAQ

Faq

Why isn’t there any actual butter in Guru Butter Chicken Sauce and Guru Veggie Makhni Sauce?

In traditional Indian cuisine, heavy cream and butter is often used to enhance dishes. Other bottled sauces are premixed with dairy ingredients. When using Guru Sauces, you choose to add or omit the dairy ingredients. Adding fresh ingredients during the cooking process increases the freshness of the dish. You control the calories and sodium in each dish to suit your needs. Dishes made with Guru Sauces are delicious when made with low fat cream, milk or yogurt. Use soya, coconut or almond milk, for even healthier meals. Now you have options. You can enjoy traditional Indian dishes with or without dairy ingredients that are low in fat and have reduced sodium.

Why does Guru suggest adding fresh coriander stems to his sauces while cooking?

When you add coriander stems to Guru Sauces the flavourful juice from the stems are released into the sauce while cooking.

Why does Guru blend and grind his own spices?

The spices in Guru Sauces were ground the old fashioned way with a stone grinder. This slow, time-honoured practice preserves 99% of the flavours and aromas that make. We now use Cryogenic Spices. Spiced ground under sub-zero temperature. Standard grinding process which does not use a cooling system can reach up to +200F. This high temperature can reduce volatile components and heat sensitive constituents in spices. Other brands of Indian sauces obtain their spices from large production factories that use high speed grinders. These grinders produce heat while processing and cause the spices to lose 50% of their flavour and aroma. Guru Sauces retain a superior flavour and will truly give a fresh, authentic Indian taste to your meal.

What kind of vegetable oil is used in Guru Sauces?

Guru uses Avocado Oil in all his sauces.

I like the ease of buying pre-made Korma sauce but find the flavour to be flat. How can I make a better tasting Korma that’s simple, quick and bursting with flavour?

It’s fast and easy to prepare fresh Indian dishes like Kormas, Karais, Vandaloos, Madras and Tikka Masala using Guru Curry Sauce as a base. One cup of Guru Curry Sauce mixed with ½ cup of plain yogurt cooked for 5 minutes will produce a fresh Korma style curry sauce full of amazing flavour and aroma. This method of making Korma will taste exceedingly better than any pre-made Korma sauce from a jar.

How much additional salt should I add when cooking with Guru Sauces?

Typically you should add 1- tsp of salt for every 1- pound of meat or vegetables you add to the sauce.

How long will a jar of Guru Sauce last once opened?
